BV Otters Parent Ambassador Roles & Responsibilities
Parent Ambassadors are to stay in the pool area (on deck and the bleachers) for the entire hour.
- BVOSC white binder can be picked up at the front desk. Once you are finished your shift, please return the binder back to the front desk.
- Parent ambassadors can have their own swimmer child sit with them in the bleacher area before or after the child’s swim time.
- Any resources, safety protocols and contact numbers are included in the binder. They are there in case you and/or the coach needs to refer to these documents.
TASKS:
- Please check yourself in on the volunteer sheet at the front of the binder to ensure we record your volunteer hours!
- Record athlete attendance for each group ( the 5 pm group will have already started so go on deck and take their attendance asap).
- Athletes for the next session must be on deck, warming up in the club corner 5-10 minutes before the session starts. Help on site as needed to make this happen so it doesn't cut into coaching time.
- Athletes must be ready, and awaiting instruction by their coach at the start of the session time. Help on site as needed to make this happen.
- Aside from 5 minutes at the end of the session where they can warm up in the hot tub, Otters cannot come early or stay late to swim unless they have paid for public swimming at the front desk upon entry. Inform athletes when their 5 minute hot tub time is up and ask them to head to the change rooms if they have not paid to swim after the session (they’ll be wearing a wristband if they have paid)
- Assist on deck as needed, to help athletes stay on task, to correct any inappropriate behaviour and to support coaches and athletes with any situations that may arise.
Thank you for volunteering, and allowing the coaches to focus their energy on training the athletes and optimizing their performance!
